It was then time for the cadets to implement their new knowledge on practice dummies and were coached on what they were doing. A riot! I could just see them leading us. There was no, you know, hesitation in my mind about what I needed to do, about what to do when I got up to that dummy. After some final run-throughs, sometimes even with actual practice subjects, each cadet was tested on their skills in a one-on-one environment. This is a must-pass exercise, and cadets realized the importance of the drill. No one wants to tell anyone that their son or daughter is not coming home at all. Though the training is essential, the cadets usually pass with flying colors and the first go-around pass rate is 99.7%. They're motivated, they want to learn. I mean, how terrible is it to learn how to save a life? It's not. This is a great skill that can be used at any point in their lives.
